Description
Chili is a plant native to Indonesia Java, planted in yards, fields, or growing wild in a place where the land is not as humid and sandy near the coast or in the forest to a height of 600 m above sea level.
Chronic plants, stems branch clay, grow climbing, twisting or creeping with bond stress roots, the length can reach 10 m. Branch starts from the hard stem and resemble wood. Single leaf, stem, ovate to oval shape, rounded base, pointed tip, flat edge, bone pinnate, upper surface smooth, under surface mottled, 8,5-30 cm long, 3-13 cm wide, green. Flowers uni sexual. Fruit compound, elliptical to cylindrical shape, the tip somewhat smaller, uneven surface, rippling regularly, 2-7 cm long, 4-8 mm diameter, long-stemmed, green-colored young, hard hard and spicy. Then gradually become amber and finally to red, soft and sweet. Seeds flattened round, hard, blackish brown. Propagation by seed or stem cuttings.
Nature and Usefulness
Fruit taste spicy and hot, into the spleen and stomach meridians. Chili java efficacious to expel cold, relieve the pain (analgesic), the facilitator of sweat (diaforetik), facilitator fart (carmintive), stimulant and aphrodisiac.
Roots feels warm, spicy chili, efficacious as a tonic, diuretic, stomakik, and facilitator menstruation (emenagog).
Chemical content
Fruit contains a substance spicy chili java piperine, chavicine, palmitic acids, tetrahydropiperic acids, 1-undecylenyl-3-4-methylenedioxy benzene, piperidin, essential oils, N-isobutyldeka-trans-2-trans-4-dienamide, and sesamin. Piperine has its antipyretic, analgesic, antiinflammatory and suppress the central nervous system. Root section contains piperine, piplartine, and piperlonguminine.
Portion used
Fruit that is old but not yet ripe, roots, and leaves, dried.
How to Use
2,5-5 g of fruit were used as pills or in boiling water, then drink.
For external use, the fruit is dried and then milled into powder dry. This powder is inhaled through the nose or inserted into tooth cavities (caries dents). Also used for rheumatism and ointment after childbirth.
Roots as much as 2.5 g of boiling water, or taken as pills, powders. Out for drug usage wounds and toothache. Leaves for mouthwash in oral inflammation.
Note
~ Patients with heartburn and pregnant women are prohibited from drinking these herbs.
